"Teaching children about the world should be seen as one of the most important events in their lives." - Thomas Berry JOIN OUR EFFORTS TO TEACH YOUTH AND ADULTS ALIKE HOW TO CO-EXIST WITH OUR NATURAL WORLD Our Mission is to teach children and adults alike how to learn from, love and protect the WILD. We do this through sponsoring unique and accessible educational programs and supporting conservation efforts with next the generation in mind. WE ARE SPONSORSING THE NEXT GENERATION OF STUDENTS! Love the Wild Foundation has been working together with our partners to engage and inspire the next generation as environmental stewards, and is thrilled to announce its first student sponsorship with our partners at Orang Utan Republik Foundation (OURF). We chose to sponsor student, Prillicia Gumbang, who was born and raised in Centeral Borneo. She has experienced the decline of the Bornean forest and its related biodiversity first hand - due to illegal logging, palm oil plantation land clearing and other invasive practices that affect the co-existance of forest habitats and the human population. Prillicia is a sophmore majoring in forestry at the University of Palangka Raya. She plays the ukulele and enjoys singing and vlogging, and even won a National Vlogging Competition hosted by the Indonesian Ministry of Environment and Forestry. Prillicia is also active in her student forestry association. We are so proud to represent you on your path to environmental stewardship, Prillicia! LEARN FROM THE WILD: REVISITING OUR UPCYCLING CLASSROOM CHALLENGE With our partners at Green Kids Club, we sponsor Inspired Classroom Challenges to teach children about environmental stewardship and being mindful about nature, with a focus on animals and their habitats. This Earth Day is a perfect time to remind parents and teachers about our Upcycling Challenge, which is still open for registration. The challenge teaches children to upcycle items into a project - an object of utility for animals or in honor of animals - instead of throwing items into the trash (or even recycling them). The challenge encourages students to think differently and creatively about what would otherwise be considered trash. Students who complete the challenge may receive a digital copy of the award-winning Green Kids Club book, The Belize Trash Monster. This book teaches children about keeping our beaches clean and being mindful of preventing trash and pollution in our oceans, especially when traveling as a visitor to tourist destinations. Both parent and educators can register for this free challenge using the button below. For questions, contact [email protected]. You can buy the The Belize Trash Monster book on our website, with proceeds going to both Love the Wild Foundation and Island Academy in Belize here. Also, a reminder that our Superhero Bear: Grizzly 399 Challenge is still open for registration here. We've had almost 20 classrooms register for this challenge so far and would love to see more!
