What We Do...KENYA Love the Wild supports environmental education at schools in Enkong "Nirok Village in Kenya (located close to Kilmanjero). We have donated a laptop and cell phone to our new Program Manager. We are starting an environmental club for children in the village and participating in a food support program for the village. We are also looking for donations to help them install a well for the village people, their livestock, and wildlife in the area. The well will provide so much needed water for them. To donate, or learn more about our efforts, click HERE. ALASKA The State of Alaska has done an amazing job of protecting wild lands for animals! After a trip to Katmai National Park, Love the Wild is hoping to partner with some villages in the area to work on future environmental education projects. EducationWe are pleased to announce we are recipients of a grant from the Deidre Bainbridge Wildlife Fund! This will allow us to provide sets of our Grizzly 399 books and Learning about Grizzlies book, along with lesson plans, to 2nd graders at select schools in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. We hope this will lead to our ability to provide more of these learning opportunities to children! Stay tuned for more on this exciting opportunity! OUR BOOKS Donations, Presentations, and Readings We love donating books, but we also enjoy the privilege of doing presentations and readings! We are excited to be working with Guardian Lane, an organization that specializes in helping children deal with grief. We provided two readings of our books: Princess and Molelo, The Fire Elephant, both of which deal with loss various types of loss. Contact us at [email protected] for more information about book readings, presentations or book donations for your classrooms. We would love to connect with you! BOOK GIVEAWAY! We want to give away some of our books! We will send this book to the first three people to contact us at [email protected] with the subject line "Grizzly 399 and Her Four Hungry Cubs." This book highlights the story of 399 and how she spends the second summer with her 4 cubs teaching them how to get food so they are ready for hibernation. With so many mouths to feed she has to find more food than usual, so she takes her cubs into populated areas, teaching the cubs how to access human food. The end of this book has a learning section about what we all must do to ensure we manage food storage and trash so that animals do not become conditioned to this way of getting their food. This book also has beautiful photos by Thomas D. Mangelsen. Wild Green Kids Club |
